The Reality of the Industry

Talent is the baseline; it gets you into the room. But Data and Retention close the deal. Labels no longer gamble on potential; they acquire active momentum.

My mentorship is built on a verified track record of domestic dominance. Using my project ROMAX (with Tim Cato), we engineered tracks like “Nasty Bitch” to specifically capture the Danish club scene, generating over 10 million streams without a major label push. This is the blueprint I teach: engineering music that holds algorithmic retention while running a militant distribution and marketing funnel.

How to build your brand
from the ground up.

PHASE 01

Artist Discovery

Before touching a DAW, we define your “Sonic Identity.” We map out your target audience, visual aesthetic, and specific industry lane. You aren’t just making noise; you are building a commercial brand.

PHASE 02

Reference Architecture

We analyze the market to find the stylistic “pulse” that performs best for your genre. I build a bespoke instrumental template that mirrors the energy of charting tracks while keeping 100% original sound design.

PHASE 03

Topline & Hook Crafting

A great track lives or dies by its hook. I personally write and arrange your topline melodies, harmonies, and lyrics, utilizing my 18 years of experience to construct the perfect vocal framework before you hit the booth.

PHASE 04

Surgical Engineering

We move into execution. This involves deep multi-DAW processing, absolute surgical vocal tuning, and achieving a commercial mix-master heavily optimized for Spotify’s LUFS and modern club standards.

PHASE 05

Visual Asset Creation

Music is consumed visually first. During mastering, we pivot to your visual ecosystem: optimizing press shots, designing Spotify Canvas assets, and setting stylistic guidelines for your short-form content.

PHASE 06

The Launch Pad

We finalize the metadata, register your performance rights, and prepare the infrastructure. This ensures that when the track goes live, all the technical gears are perfectly aligned to capture every stream.

The 6-Week Execution Plan.

WEEK 06
Content Pillars & Asset Lock (Artist)

The audio is finalized. This week, you must define your 3 Content Pillars (e.g., Behind-the-scenes creation, the direct lip-sync hook, and the emotional storytelling/lore). You begin gathering B-roll, planning outfits, and scouting locations for your visual push.

Mark’s Backend Workflow

I handle the technical ingestion via Amuse, ensuring metadata is flawless. I submit the vital Spotify Editorial Pitch—giving curators the maximum 6-week window required to guarantee placement on your followers’ Release Radar.

WEEK 05
Batch Filming (Artist)

You stop focusing on the audio entirely. This is production week for your short-form content. You shoot 15 to 30 videos for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts. Every single video must feature a strong visual pattern-interrupt in the first 3 seconds, all utilizing the catchiest 15-second snippet of your unreleased track.

Mark’s Backend Workflow

I register your publishing splits and performance rights with organizations like KODA/BMI to ensure backend royalties are secured. I also finalize the looping Spotify Canvas video and set up your pre-save smart links.

WEEK 04
The Warm-Up & A/B Testing (Artist)

You upload the official “Sound” to TikTok and Instagram. You begin posting 3 to 5 times a week from your batched content. You are not begging for pre-saves yet; you are A/B testing. We analyze which visual hooks, text overlays, and narrative angles hold viewer retention the longest.

Mark’s Backend Workflow

I begin early “soft” A&R pitching. Using private, watermarked SoundCloud links, I seed the track to warm industry contacts, managers, and trusted DJs in my network to build early organic club/radio support.

WEEK 03
Community Activation (Artist)

We push the angle that worked best in Week 4. Your main job is community management: replying to every single comment with video responses, and funneling engaged viewers into an Instagram Broadcast Channel or Discord server to build a hyper-warm audience.

Mark’s Backend Workflow

I execute the primary Curator Outreach. Utilizing platforms like LabelRadar, SubmitHub, and direct email lists, I submit the track to independent playlisters, blog writers, and tastemakers to secure release-day coverage.

WEEK 02
The Virality Push (Artist)

Aggressive content output. You re-create the best performing video from your tests 5 different ways. We push hard for metrics the algorithm actually cares about: Saves and Shares. We introduce stronger call-to-actions, building intense pent-up demand.

Mark’s Backend Workflow

I follow up with DSP editors (Apple Music/Amazon) and begin prepping the post-release LabelRadar campaigns. We ensure that your artist profile is visually cohesive and the Spotify pitch is officially locked in.

WEEK 01
Direct Retargeting (Artist)

The final push. Profile bios are updated, the link-in-bio is cleared of clutter, and you start utilizing Instagram Story countdowns. You make direct-to-camera videos telling viewers exactly when, where, and why they need to stream the track on Friday.

Mark’s Backend Workflow

I sync the social rollout with PR/Blog features, check the Amuse ingestion status to guarantee zero technical failures across the 150+ global stores, and verify that the Spotify Canvas is live on the backend.

WEEK 00
Release Day Activation (Artist)

You drive 100% of the traffic you built over the last 5 weeks directly to Spotify and Apple Music. You engage with listeners, repost tags, and keep momentum peaking. Because you built demand, you trigger algorithmic playlists (Release Radar, Discover Weekly) immediately.

Mark’s Backend Workflow

I monitor the live algorithmic triggers, update our LabelRadar campaigns with your Day-1 Spotify data to leverage better playlist placements, and begin reaching out to major label A&Rs with proof of your independent market traction.

Mastering the Algorithm.

We operate on a 20/80 principle. You can engineer the greatest record of the decade (20%), but without mastering the social algorithm (80%), it will die on the server. I teach you how to hack platform mechanics to build undeniable leverage.

  • Watch Time is King: Platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels prioritize average view duration above all else. If your video doesn’t have a visual or auditory pattern-interrupt in the first 3 seconds, the user scrolls, and the algorithm kills your reach. We design hooks to hold eyes.
  • Micro-Engagement Over Likes: The algorithm has shifted. A “Like” is a passive, worthless metric. Today, algorithms hyper-push content that generates Saves and Shares. We script your content to be highly relatable, educational, or controversial, prompting users to physically send it to a friend.
  • The Content Funnel: Your social media is a sales funnel. Top-of-funnel content uses broad, relatable hooks to capture strangers. Middle-of-funnel builds your artist lore, personality, and aesthetic. Bottom-of-funnel directly converts those warm viewers into active, monthly Spotify listeners.
Music is the product, but mastering the algorithm is your distribution network. Make them watch, make them share, make them stream.

Tools for scaling and amplification.

DISTRIBUTION

Amuse

To execute the 6-Week Rule flawlessly, we route your releases through Amuse. Their infrastructure guarantees reliable ingestion into global stores, ensuring we hit the strict deadlines required to trigger the industry’s editorial gatekeepers without technical delays.

INDUSTRY PITCHING

LabelRadar

Once the track has momentum, we use LabelRadar and my personal contact network to amplify it. By putting your actively streaming music directly in front of vetted A&Rs and influential playlist curators, we convert independent data into serious label leverage.
